Legal & Conveyancing

I have a couple of teenage children who are being invited to various social gatherings, many of which I suspect involve alcohol. I am not so naive to assume that nothing is going to happen, but what is the legal obligation of the parent host of a teenage birthday party where kids turn up with alcohol? I presume that the parents might be placing themselves in a bad position without knowing what the legal implications are....

Hello,
I have 5 friends and we have an option on a building site - we have a company at the moment.
We want to build the project. We will pay cash from all 5 people for the land but through a vehicle ie trust or company and then that vehicle will need development finance. What is the best vehicle to use unit trust? and how does stamp duty work and how does the title transfer at the end.

Hi, I would like to get some advice on our business lease. The lessor is giving us hard time and is not willing to extend our lease. We just bought the business a year ago on the basis that we had 5 years x 2 lease options and now the lessor has flipped! He is wanting us to get a lawyer involved to resolve this matter.

We have a potential buyer to purchase our business, but obviously the lessor is not helping us out at all to sign transfer of lease. Any help or guidance available here?

I was terminated on the grounds of absentee, there was previous warning in regards to my sick leaves and late notification, on the date I was terminated by the manager, it was over the phone with no written notice. After a month, the operation manager contacted, given me 2 options whether to reinstate to the formal position or have all my annual leave paid with 5 weeks additional as compensation for incorrect procedure of termination
Is my case strong? Should I take the offer?

I have been separated for 2 years, and have just sold the family home. I believe a 50/50 split of the equity is fair but my estranged partner believes she is entitled to more as my father passed away 10 months ago and she is wanting some inheritance as well. My fathers estate is still in probate and overseas. I am self employed, pay maintenance for our child, the ex does not work and has never worked.
Does my ex have claim on my future inheritance, or for a higher split in the equity?

My partner and I are currently in a long distance relationship of 3.5 years. He resides in Samoa where he has completed his diploma in electronics and a certificate in Cisco IT Program provided by the National University of Samoa. I am currently working part time and full time study Bach of Arts/Law at uni. I'm desperate to find a way to bring my partner to Australia on a permanent basis where we can live together and for him to be able to work.He has visited Aus twice. Cananyone help us please?

My father is old and he didn't want to live alone or a home.
So he decided to sell home and live with us so we could look after him, but our house was small so we sold our home.
So dad gave us money from the sale of his house as a gift.
So we bought a house and put the house in our names not dads.
My question is after dad passes away, can family members take our house away from us?

I bought a home with my mum (50/50) in 2010, &lived there till March17 when I bought my own home. To satisfy the ATOs one primary residence rule to avoid CapitalGainsTax, I have to transfer the title to her (StateRevenueOffice says shell have to pay stamp duty on homes current value). Or when the house is sold, ill have to pay CGT, even though it's not an investment property? Is there any way my 60 y.o. widowed mum can stay there without having to sell & move, or one of us getting hit with fees?

Last Friday I went past a parked car that had 2 speeding cameras on the vehicle(l was going opposite direction where the car was parked). 1 of them was on the bumber and the other one was inside of the car but on the dashboard and it looked like a camera. I was going 50 in a 60 zone and felt like it flashed at me twice for some reason. Does the camera on the dashboard take photos of people in the car or is it used to detect speed?
